Multilingual TV For Holiday Villas and B&B´s using Multiple Dishes

An ideal and affordable setup for providing multilingual TV for rental villas and B & B´s is achieved by placing 2 small dishes and a Spanish terrestrial TV aerial. With this combination of antennas, hundreds of TV and Radio channels can be viewed from 6 satellites. The inputs from each dish and the terrestrial antenna are connected together using a " diseqc" switch.

Dish One

This is aimed at the Astra satellites and Eurobird. The programmes are nearly all in English. The dish depicted in the diagram is a 120cm dish or it could be a big dish (1.8 to 2.4 metres). In the diagram we are using a twin LNB with one cable going to a Sky box and another cable going to a combination digi-box (terrestrial and satellite TV)

Two boxes are only required if the user wants to subscribe to Sky channels or view ITV 1, channel 4 and channel 5. All generic digi-boxes are able to access the BBC and ITV from a big dish however Sky boxes generally have a more sensitive tuner than most reasonably priced generic set top boxes. Skyboxes are not designed to work with multiple satellites and therefore another digi-box is required to watch channels from other satellites.

Dish Two

This has two LNBs - one LNB is aimed at Hotbird and the other at Astra 19. On these satellites there are a great number of free TV and radio channels in several languages including German, Italian and French. There are very few English channels. Channels from Hotbird and Astra 19 are essential for German and Italian guests

Multiple Guest Rooms

For Villas and B & B´s with more than one guest room (requiring independent TV reception in each room), it is best to use a system that uses quatro LNBs and a multi switch that can have 4 inputs plus terrestrial and 12 outlets.
