The Palacio de Benicarló (the old house of the Borjas), is located in the old town. It is a rectangular building with a large garden. Originally late-gothic in style, it was remodelled in the 19th century and given an early gothic image. Access to the recently refurbished building is from the Plaza de San Lorenzo, once known as the Plaza de la Inquisición as the feared institution operated from there.
