The Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) is one of Africa’s most iconic antelopes, commonly seen across southern and eastern Africa, including South Africa’s Kruger National Park. Around 7,000 kudu live in the Greater Kruger region, thriving in woodlands and dense bush where they find both cover and food.
Kudu are browsers, feeding on leaves, shoots, and a wide mix of shrubs and trees such as acacia and mopa-ne. During harsh dry seasons, they may also graze on grasses. Their main predators include lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, and hyenas, with calves the most vulnerable.
This footage was filmed in central and northern Kruger. You’ll hear the kudu’s distinctive bark — often used as an alarm call, especially when leopards are nearby — followed by gentle natural bird sounds for an immer-sive experience.
