The amazing frill-necked lizard is on the hunt for insects and small prey, as the monsoon storm system arrives in Northern Australia. The monsoon also awakes another predator - the black headed python who is partial to lizards. If confronted, the lizard raises his frill to look to big and ferocious but if that doesn’t work he takes off on a sprint of up to 15km per hour!
Frill-necked lizards originate in Northern Australia and Southern New Guinea, where they inhabit dry forests, semi-arid woodlands, and hot tropical forests. They typically have a lifespan of around 10 to 15 years in the wild.
